In a systematic, organised, and knowledgeable manner, FA Foundation supports the education of novices, seasoned collectors, journalists, art critics, dealers, gallery owners, investors, and scholars to navigate the exclusive paths of art collecting.

Through the Society of Art Collection (SARTCOL), FA Foundation educates collectors on the intricacies of collecting art – provenance and collectors’ rights, preserving sustainable collections, respecting artists’ rights, supporting artists, and connecting artists with prospective collectors their works through the Society of Art Collection.

Over the years, SARTCOL’s activities in the promotion of the arts include the following:

  • Seminars for art collectors to discuss matters of interest relating to art collection, purchase of art and art related materials.
  • Sessions for collectors to speak about their collections and how to collect art
  • Fora support for the development of art and artists
  • Support of art programs and art exhibitions
  • Generating literature and database for artworks
  • Organise and support events centred on fostering an appreciation and understanding of art.

The Foundation also promotes the development of Nigerian creative and artistic talents, creative abilities, and creative exposure. We seek to encourage the collection and preservation of artworks locally and globally and also provide a platform for exchanging ideas and experiences among artists, art collectors, and other key stakeholders on art and art collection issues.

SARTCOL aims to achieve the following:

  • To encourage and promote a culture of art appreciation through the promotion and support of art exhibitions and auctions for both indigenous and international artists as well as art collectors.
  • To develop and maintain collaboration with other national and international bodies engaged in art and art collection.
  • To encourage research, publication, and data collection of relevant materials pertaining to art collection.
